Abstract: With the general saturation of shopping centres and limited sites for new developments, there is a trend in the industry today to extend and refurbish retail opportunities. Against this scenario, several shopping centres have undergone various degrees of refurbishment over the last three to four years, and a few are still undergoing the process. The Increasing popularity of shopping centres refurbishment has thus prompted the writer to look into the process of such an exercise and the problems that are likely to be encountered. It is the aim of this study to draw some experiences from the refurbished projects and to propose a suitable model for refurbishment of this nature.
