Abstract: After a 4-year slump, the tourist industry in Singapore has begun to make an impressive and dramatic recovery. In the Cast three years, tourist arrival rates have rapidly increased and this has boosted businesses for various trades creating an overwhelming demand for hotel rooms. As more major conventions and exhibitions are planned, many of the hotels are now concentrating on capturing the corporate business market with upgraded facilities and increased room rates. There is therefore a need to Cook, at the availability of room accommodation for the budget travellers. The writer foresees a possibility of creating the 'Bed-and-Breakfast' accommodation and facilities in Singapore as a form of affordable residential accommodation to be provided by private citizens. As this is a relatively new concept to Singaporeans, surveys are conducted to determine the demand and supply for such a service. The consequences of implementation will be investigated to give a better understanding of the feasibility of this provision.
