Citation: RUTH LIM (1990). MALE SELECTION IN THE CONTEXT OF SINGAPORE ARMED FORCES. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.
Abstract: "In relation of a man and a woman who love each other with passion and imagination and tenderness, there is something of inestimable value, to be ignorant of which is a great misfortune to any human being. - BERTRAND RUSSELL "For this reason, three out of four singles - ambivalents, wishfuls and regretfuls - share at least one common characteristic of major significance: they are generally intent on graduating from a lonely form of singlehood to a romantic couple's status, the avowed goal of almost everyone living without a special person in his or her life' (Wrst. 1982, p. 24)" (Shostak, -). However, not everyone who wants to find a partner succeeds in doing so. What implications will this have for those who remain single and those who are still searching? But, first we need to understand the individual in his/her context. It is to these questions my Academic Exercise is addressed.
