Abstract: BNIP-2 is a BCH domain containing protein that was identified in this thesis to bind LATS-1 kinase and regulate cardiomyocyte differentiation. This interaction was required to down regulate downstream YAP target gene expression during differentiation. Furthermore, BNIP-2 regulation of cellular contractility was required for BNIP-2, LATS and also LATS, YAP interaction.
