Abstract: Nonlinear optical phenomena are of tremendous interest in the research field of material science as well as optoelectronics applications. Femtosecond laser spectroscopic techniques, with extraordinary time resolution and sufficient high peak power, paves a versatile and powerful way to investigate nonlinear optical (NLO) interactions with materials. In this thesis, time-resolved pump-probe technique was engaged to investigate the carrier dynamics and charge transfer process of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides heterostructure. Additionally, two-photon excitation spectroscopy was applied to unveil the controversial excitonic states properties of the two-deminsional organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites. Finally, NLO properties of metal-organic frameworks were studied. Interestingly, we obtained a giant enhancement of the SHG (~125 times) and two-photon photoluminescence (~14 times) through an interpenetration change from 7-fold to an 8-fold interpenetrated MOF. Our results provide insight into NLO properties of the advanced materials and push forward the novel synthesis protocol.
