Abstract: Timesharing, though a relatively unfamiliar' concept locally, has been actively practised in the resort market of many countries since the late 70's. The beginning of the timeshare industry was somewhat rocky. The innovative idea resembles that of conventional condominiums and hotel operations, and therefore it involves a much more complicated implementation process than many other types of developments. In addition, the industry is confronted with much criticisms and pressure from the general public, the financial communities and the government. Together, the many difficulties and hindrances to be overcome present a formidable challenge for future developers.
