A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF MARRIED AND UNMARRIED FEMALE WORKERS IN SINGAPORE

Abstract

Women have been moving into the labour force at a rapid pace for the past decades. In spite of some gains that women have made in the sphere of work, the problems of combining home responsibilities with wage work has still remained. This study aims to look at the role perceptions among women in the areas of home and work. In addition, the time-allocation patterns and actual role performance of the women workers will also be examined. It is proposed that marital status, education and occupation will act to shape these role perceptions and role performance.
