Abstract: The exercise attempts an exploratory stay of individual poets' responses to the landscape. It assumes a direct and simple structure. The Introduction lays down the definition of landscape and the unifying theme of the exercise. Each self-contained chapter on one poet is merely a subjective reading of the poems and ought to be pursued further if it be of any interest, I have tried to cohere the exercise thematically. This however should be subjected to critical examination as regards its effectiveness. The conclusion attempts a general comparison of the three examined poets and a personal opinion on future Singapore Poetry. I stress again this is an exploratory exercise. Hence the points made or suggested, illustrations presented, are not (and indeed should not be) considered exhaustive. much of what I say is also general and thus must be read in context.
