Abstract

The campus has been approached as a group and not a single system. Each building, designed by different architect, is a separate composition without proper link to each other. As a result, it remains a collection of 'loose objects'. The residual spaces in between buildings are negative. The thesis issue is thus about the contribution each one makes to others and the campus at large. The task of this project is then to design the proposed Faculty as part of the campus master plan. This Faculty which is conceived as part of an overall design for campus function and growth will serve purposes beyond the mere provision of necessary facilities. The basic elements within the Faculty are organised to relate effectively to each other, and also designed within a larger framework of campus circulation systems, parking, recreation centres and residential groupings. This larger framework which also includes such factors as frequency and intensity of utilisation really controls the design.
