Abstract: Schools have become impersonal institutions. With its rigid egg-crate design, the school function as a container for children rather than a place for learning. We have closeted our children for years in sterile monochrome classrooms - boxes which house desks, chairs and blackboard. This thesis attempts to break the monotonous design of school and achieve a creative learning environment. The aims of the design are; - to design a school which treats the students as the subject of education, and compliments their individual development. - to design a multi-sensory and flexible learning environment. In executing the design work into architecture, the designer uses a metaphor of a village, which is dominated by the clustering of specific elements.
