BUILDING MAINTENANCE IN CHANGI AIRPORT PASSENGER TERMINAL BUILDING I

Abstract

There has been a growing awareness on the importance of building maintenance recently. As building design and services become more complex, an equally high level of sophistication in maintenance is required. In this dissertation, a case study is carried out on the maintenance system in a complex and special building - Changi Airport Passenger Terminal Building I. The aim of the study is to promote the importance of planned building maintenance and maintenance considerations at design stage. A very high standard of maintenance is achieved in the terminal building, through systematic planning and controlling of maintenance activities. However, maintenance cost has been very high over the years due to the lack of maintenance consideration at design stage of the terminal building. These will be covered in detail in the study.
