Abstract: 

IN THIS THESIS, SEVERAL MESH-FREE METHODS IN THE FREQUENCY DOMAIN AS WELL AS THE TIME DOMAIN ARE INTRODUCED FOR THE ANALYSIS OF MICROWAVE COMPONENTS. A NOVEL MESH-FREE METHOD, NAMELY THE ELEMENT-FREE RITZ METHOD (EFRM), WHICH EMPLOYS THE MOVING LEAST SQUARE (MLS) APPROXIMATION COUPLED WITH THE RAYLEIGH-RITZ PROCEDURE, IS PRESENTED AND NEXT APPLIED TO COMPUTE THE CUTOFF WAVENUMBERS OF ARBITRARILY-SHAPED HOLLOW CONDUCTING WAVEGUIDES, WAVEGUIDES WITH CONDUCTING WALLS THAT ARE PARTIALLY FILLED WITH DIELECTRIC AND WAVEGUIDE FILTERS. FOLLOWING THE SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EFRM, A CONFORMAL MESH-FREE METHOD BASED ON RADIAL BASIS FUNCTION COUPLED WITH COORDINATE TRANSFORMATION TECHNIQUE IS NEXT PROVIDED. TO EXTEND THE MESH-FREE CAPABILITY INTO THE TIME-DOMAIN, A TIME-DOMAIN SMOOTHED PARTICLE HYDRODYNAMICS (TDSPH) METHOD IS PROPOSED FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL MAXWELLB S CURL EQUATIONS.
