Abstract:

SELF-ASSEMBLED MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES THIN FILM HAS POTENTIAL TO BE HIGH AREAL DENSITY RECORDING MEDIA IN FUTURE. SIZE AND SHAPE CONTROLLED COBALT NANOPARTICLES AND THEIR RELATIVE PROPERTIES WERE STUDIED. TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY, ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY AND X-RAY DIFFRACTION ARE APPLIED TO INVESTIGATE THE MORPHOLOGY AND CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURES OF THE AS SYNTHESIZED I?-CO NANOPARTICLES. THEY REVEALED THAT UNDER CERTAIN REACTION CHEMICAL MOLE RATIO, THE SPHERE I?-CO NANOPARTICLES WERE SYSTEMATICALLY TUNED. ABOVE CERTAIN MOLE RATIO, BAR SHAPE I?-CO NANOPARTICLES WERE ACHIEVED. DIFFRACTION SCANNING CALORIMETRY IS USED TO INVESTIGATE THE PHASE TRANSITION TEMPERATURE OF THOSE NANOPARTICLES. MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF THE NANOPARTICLES WERE CHARACTERIZED BY VIBRATING SAMPLE MAGNETOMETER. IT REVEALED THAT THE ROOM TEMPERATURE MAGNETIC PROPERTIES WERE SHAPE DEPENDENT.
