Title: | A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF AMERICAN AND JAPANESE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN SINGAPORE | Authors: | THOMAS CHONG FOOK HONG | Issue Date: | 1984 | Citation: | THOMAS CHONG FOOK HONG (1984). A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF AMERICAN AND JAPANESE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN SINGAPORE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Multinational corporations have made significant contributions to the economic growth of Singapore; the Americans and Japanese among those in the forefront. This study is aimed at finding the extent to which U.S. and Japanese companies have transferred and implemented their management practices in their subsidiaries operating here. Through extensive and intensive interviews of a small sample of companies in the electronic/electrical industry, the empirical findings show that the Japanese are not practising what they are doing in Japan while the Americans have demonstrated that the transportability of their management practices is not only feasible but workable in Singapore. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/160574 |
