Abstract: Disgust is a common emotion present in many disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), but the mechanisms of disgust remains understudied. Hence, there is a need to improve our understanding of disgust. Recent theoretical advances (Ludvik et al., 2015) suggest that counterconditioning (pairing the conditioned stimulus with a pleasant stimulus) may be more effective in reducing disgust than exposure.
