Abstract: It is noted that there is a healthy trend towards the recognition of other aspects of the profession involving property management, agency and project management consultancy. In the past, there was no proper level of attention from developers and building owners on management and maintenance of their buildings. Their main interest was to maximise the available space creating sufficient supply to meet demand and a high quality product at the time of completion. Thereafter, quietly they faded from the scene. Deterioration soon sets in as a result of poor or no maintenance. Two major legislations Buildings and Common Property (Maintenance and Management) Act "1973 and Land Title Strata Act were introduced to control building maintenance and management. As a further measure, the Government may require the employment of professional firms to manage properties competently. Unless these measures are taken to maintain the facade and building services, it will not long before quality building turns into concrete slums. All these measures point towards the importance of management and maintenance and it will continue to be so as long as we want a safe and attractive environment. This has prompted the writer to do a study on management and maintenance of a building and the CPF Building was chosen as a case study. The owner of the Building, being the Statutory Body, has to keep its building to the standard required by the Government. The writer will study its management and maintenance aspects. The study starts off with the physical description of the Building, then its Management and Maintenance and finally the Conclusion.
