Citation: JAI SINGH SIDHU (1976). THE SALES OF URBAN REDEVELOPMENT SITES IN SINGAPORE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.
Abstract: This dissertation is a study in urban renewal. More specifically, it attempts to study the actual implementation of the urban redevelopment programme through the sale of urban redevelopment sites. Up to date, there have been four sales of sites, beginning from the first in 1967, to the fourth in 1974. Over the years, there have been some changes in these sales, which have been noted in the following dissertation, and it is intended to review the results and circumstances of each sale and draw inferences therefrom. It must be remembered that this dissertation only covers the four sales of sites as carried out by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, although there have been private development on other sites, a majority of which were carried out between 1971 and 1973 and a list of which has been provided in Table 5. Hence, all comments made on the sale of sites will be only in respect of the four sales proper, unless otherwise stated.
