Abstract: The thesis aims to develop a project planning software which could incorporate not only project crashing but also resource constraint. The project is motivated by the demand from industries, so the goal is to provide better project management software to companies. We establish two approaches to tackle this problem. The first model utilizes the separate models for project crashing and resource constraint. We combine these two individual models by intuition. The model is an optimization model but it requires pre-adjustment for solvers. Moreover, since it is optimal, the number of variables is large, and hence it could not solve for large size problems. The second model is based on the traditional Bowman model, but we develop a heuristic algorithm. By doing so, we try to reduce the number of binary variables. We also prove that the result produced by this heuristic algorithm is consistent with our expectation and near to optimal.
