Abstract: e-Self Service Application Framework (eSSAF) a plug-in based development toolkit for creating applications running on self servicing machine such as ATM. It was developed by IBM Singapore and in ASEAN 20 banks more than 3000 ATMs are running eSSAF. This product has been evolving for 10 years. The principle of eSSAF is event driven, highly configurable, highly extensible, network independent, host independent, kiosk independent and platform independent. In this dissertation, I proudly present the state of art of this product. As a successful study case, eSSAF contributes a demonstration of software engineering approaches and designs. I will also present some work we done recently to evolve the product and discuss about some important software engineering issues behind.
