Presynaptic dendrites (PSDs) are described in the cuneate nucleus of the monkey. These PSDs establish dendro-dendritic synapses with dendrites of variable size. They contain small numbers of pleomorphic synaptic vesicles which are clustered together near the presynaptic membrane. Such PSDs have also been observed to be postsynaptic to medium-sized or large axon terminals containing round vesicles.
