Laparoscopy assisted anorectal pull-through for high imperforate anus - A new technique. Singapore Paediatric Journal 44 (2) : 60-61. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP), popularized by DeVries and Pena has become the standard surgical management of imperforate anus. Patients with high imperforate anus have typically required a laparotomy for a diverting colostomy at birth followed by definitive repair after few months after weight gain. However recent trends have shown that it is possible to do the definitive anorectal pull-through at an earlier age in smaller infants with good results. The feasibility of laparoscopy in children and its impact in terms of safety, lesser pain and shorter hospitalization have been well established. We present the application of the laparoscopic technique for the surgical management of an imperforate anus in a 3 month old infant. | Source Title: | Singapore Paediatric Journal | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/131155 | ISSN: | 02189941 |
