Title: Silence in Indonesian Literary Discourse: The Case of the Indonesian Chinese
Authors: Heryanto, A.
Issue Date: 1997
Citation: Heryanto, A. (1997). Silence in Indonesian Literary Discourse: The Case of the Indonesian Chinese. SOJOURN 12 (1) : 26-45. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.
Abstract: Explores reasons underlying the Indonesian literary canon's silence regarding tensions involving the Chinese minority during its 75+ year history. Given the salience of discrimination & racial issues in everyday conversations, national policies, & in nonfiction & fiction outside official sanctions, the absence of this theme is puzzling. Considered are whether the absence is from censorship & if it is significant.
