Abstract: The problem of finding the minimum number of base stations (BSs) required to provide full network coverage in a point-to-multipoint OFDM based fixed broadband wireless access network is investigated. We model this as a binary integer-programming problem (BIP) and use an efficient branch and bound algorithm to solve the problem. We also provide a design approach to determine the minimum number of BSs required when the traffic demands at all subscriber stations (SSs) are varying over a day. © 2006 IEEE.
