Abstract: In a report published in 2007, IPCC concluded that Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level (IPCC 2007:2). Climate change has been one of the causes of increased incidences and/or intensity of extreme weather events such as floods and heat waves. These weather-related occurrences have had a major impact on cities, particularly those in developing countries and coastal regions. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
