Abstract: A PCR-SSOP typing method, involving a single PCR amplification in conjunction with 19 digoxigenin labelled oligonucleotide probes, has been developed for the identification of 17 known HLA-A(*)02 alleles. The method has been applied to four populations (Northern Ireland, Singapore Chinese, Shetland Island and Mexican) and percentages of HLA-A(*)02 alleles determined within each population.
