HypeDyn supports visual authoring of adaptive hypertext fiction in which links and nodes may be varied procedurally as the result of past reader actions. This allows for the creation of procedural stories which are much more flexible and adaptive than traditional hypertext. HypeDyn was initially created as a teaching tool, and has been used since 2009 in an interactive storytelling class in the Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore. It has also been used as a tool for research, providing a flexible platform for the exploration of issues of procedural change and rereadability in interactive stories. Our experiences with HypeDyn suggest that hypertext constitutes a valuable paradigm within which to explore issues relevant to interactive storytelling in general.
