Abstract: A probe-fed L-shaped plate is presented to form a low-profile antenna with a broad impedance bandwidth. Measurements show that the enhanced impedance bandwidth reaches up to 24% by exciting two adjacent modes. Radiation characteristics and realized gains are also examined. A dual linear polarization feature has been observed, useful for applications in random environments.
