A new PSO algorithm, namely, effectively informed Gaussian particle swarm (EIGPS), has been presented in this paper. The particle in EIGPS effectively shares the information of its neighbors better than itself and is updated using Gaussian random number generator. Crossover and greedy selection are also employed. EIGPS is then applied to the position-only synthesis of two symmetric antenna arrays. The simulation results show that EIGPS performs well in the position-only synthesis of antenna arrays. ©2009 IEEE.
