This communication corrects the original field iterative method for interior scattering by perfectly electric conductor cavity structures proposed by Reuster and Thiele in 1995. The corrections are based on the use of a new equivalent model for this class of scattering problems, which improves both the accuracy and validity of the method for backscatter fields over wide angles of incidence. Numerical simulations for benchmark geometry for cavity scattering are conducted to demonstrate these improvements. © 2005 IEEE.
