dc.description.abstractSingapore is developing a vision of an Intelligent Island for the year 2000, codenamed IT2000. This vision proposes a framework whereby information flows across and within key economic sectors will be harnessed to enhance economic competitiveness and solve challenging organizational problems. A nation-wide infrastructure to promote, capture, integrate and exploit these information flows will be required. A research agenda, has been set to offer long-term technologies meet the requirements of IT2000. This paper will stress the exciting challenge offered by Systems Integration in the Intelligent Island.
