Abstract: Three maternal deaths with hydatidiform molar pregnancies associated with severe hemorrhage and coagulopathy are described. Symptoms of coagulation abnormalities are few in mild degrees of intravascular coagulation. This paper addresses the importance of anticipating a coagulopathy in hydatidiform molar pregnancy even before evacuation of the abnormal conceptus since evacuation aggravates fibrinolytic activity and therefore increases hemorrhage in these conditions.
