dc.description.abstract1. 1. Calcium deposition in Galaxea fasricularis was found to be an active process. 2. 2. The poisoning effect of DCMU showed that the process was enhanced by the photosynthetic activity of the endosymbiont it houses. 3. 3. Various poisons and metabolic inhibitors examined reduced calcium incorporation, suggesting the probable involvement of Ca2+ -ATPase and carbonic anhydrase with ATP as the possible energy source. 4. 4. Calcium deposition is enhanced by light, is temperature dependent and is a function of external magnesium concentration. © 1989.
