Carriers can affect the dissolution of poorly soluble drugs. For this study, the carriers employed were sodium starch glycolate, corn starch, hydroxypropyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, soy polysaccharide and dicalcium phosphate dihydrate. Capsules were prepared from mixtures of drug and carriers. The results showed that carriers which have high swelling ability, high water uptake capacity and fast swelling force development improved drug dissolution significantly.
