Abstract: The approach of synchronization is proposed as a robust, reliable, and practical algorithm for shock wave computations. A single-sided locally averaged coupling scheme is introduced based on the resolution argument of control sensors. The proposed algorithm is more effective than a third-order upwind scheme for oscillation reduction.
