dc.description.abstractWe give sufficient conditions for a compact Einstein manifold of nonpositive sectional curvature to be isometric to a hyperbolic manifold if they have isomorphic fundamental groups. We prove a finiteness result for Einstein metrics on a compact manifold of negative sectional curvature. Spectral rigidity of locally symmetric spaces of negative curvature is considered.
