dc.description.abstract | An increase in ichthyological activity in Nepal over the past 25 years has raised the number of fish species reported for the country. We provide details of the distribution of new records for 10 additional species captured from 25 sites during recent ichthyological exploration throughout Nepal: Puntius terio, Psilorhynchus gracilis, Lepidocephalichthys menoni, Neoeudrrhichthys maydelli, Glyptothorax alaknandi, G. botius, C. garhwali, Nangra assamensis, Sisor rheophilus, and Anabas cobojius. Given that these species are relatively rare in Nepal, and that their ecology is poorly understood throughout their range, we also provide notes on their microhabitat use. Neoeudrrhichthys maydelli, an inadequately-studied species, is rediagnosed and redescribed from the Nepalese material. © 2007 by Verlag Dr. Friedrich Pfeil. | |
