Abstract: A new species of Lobothelphusa, L. gibbosa, is described from rice (= paddy) fields near Rangoon in southern Burma. This, the seventh species recognized in the genus, is the most southerly record of any Lobothelphusa species thus far. Lobothelphusa gibbosa is closest to L. burmensis (Bott) with regards to the general carapace physiognomy, but has a different male first pleopod structure.
