Issue Date: | Jun-1990 | Citation: | Poo, G.-S.,Ang, W. (1990-06). OSI addressing strategies for interconnected LANs. Computer Communications 13 (5) : 290-297. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This paper discusses the OSI addressing principles and implementation strategies for interconnected heterogeneous local area networks. The addressing capabilities of seven layers are analysed and demonstrated using a general gateway model. The relationship between names and addresses is discussed, based on the new X.500 directory service. To enhance the understanding, the association of N-service primitive and N-protocol address information is illustrated with a typical transmitted frame traversing through protocol layers. © 1990. | Source Title: | Computer Communications | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/99372 | ISSN: | 01403664 |
