Abstract: The two-particle correlation completely determines the multiplicity distribution. For a negative binomial distribution, a question is raised whether true intermittency (in the limit of very short correlation length) will be revealed by k(δη → 0). Two parametrized forms, one exponential and one Gaussian, are used for the correlation function to study the data on e+e-, pp, pp̄, and nucleus-nucleus collisions at high energies.
