Abstract: Brillouin scattering was used to measure the velocity angular dispersion of bulk acoustic modes propagating parallel to the crystal plates of LiNbO3 in three directions. The elastic and piezoelectric stress constants of LiNbO3 at hypersonic frequencies were found to be only marginally more accurate than those based only on the X-cut data. The evidence of dispersion between ultrasonic and hypersonic velocities was found for both surface and bulk acoustic waves.
