Abstract: The emerging field of artificial track-walking molecular motors is reviewed. The author attempted to clarify the scientific and technological challenges that face the field. A comprehensive mechanistic diagram for molecular walkers was introduced, thereby the directions and possible routes for future development were suggested. © 2010 American Vacuum Society.
