Issue Date: | Jul-2000 | Citation: | Dai, J., Li, S.F.Y., Xiao, T.D., Wang, D.M., Reisner, D.E. (2000-07). Structural stability of aluminum stabilized alpha nickel hydroxide as a positive electrode material for alkaline secondary batteries. Journal of Power Sources 89 (1) : 40-45. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1016/S0378-7753(00)00391-8 | Abstract: | Nanostructured, aluminum-stabilized nickel, hydroxides described as Ni1-xAlx(OH)2.(CO3)x/2·nH2O (x = 0.05-0.2), which are similar to α-Ni(OH)2·xH2O in crystal structure are examined as cathode materials for Ni-Cd cells. The structure, morphology and electrochemical performance are investigated. The structural changes and stability of nanophase aluminum-stabilized, alpha nickel hydroxides with different x values analyzed during cycling by means of powder X-ray diffraction. Compared with β-Ni(OH)2, the nanophase, aluminum-stabilized α-Ni(OH)2 with x = 0.15 is highly stable against overcharge. | Source Title: | Journal of Power Sources | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/94908 | ISSN: | 03787753 | DOI: | 10.1016/S0378-7753(00)00391-8 |
