Abstract: The reactions of tetrameric (F3CP)4 and pentameric (F3CP)5 with [Os3(CO)11(MeCN)] gave [(OC)11Os3-(μ-PHCF3)Os3(CO) 11(μ-H)] 1 while the reaction with [Os3(μ-H)2(CO)10] led to the formation of [Os3(μ-H)-(μ-PHCF3)(CO)10] 2 and [(OC)9(μ-H)2Os3(μ4-F 3CPPCF3)Os3(μ-H)2(CO) 9] 3. Pyrolysis of (F3CP)4 with [Os3(CO)12] at 209°C resulted in cleavage of the triosmium parent cluster to afford [Os4(CO)13(μ3-PCF3)2] 4. When the cyclophosphanes reacted with [Ru3(CO)12] in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratio, [{Ru(CO)3(μ3-PCF3)}4] 5 and [Ru5(CO)15(μ4-PCF3)] 6 were obtained respectively. The complex [Ru4(CO)14(μ4-PCF3)] 7 was obtained when the reaction between [Ru3(CO)12] and (F3CP)n (n = 4 or 5) was carried out at 80°C. However, when [Ru4H(CO)12] was treated with the cyclophosphanes the novel molecule [Ru4(μ-H)2(CO)12(μ-PCF 3)-(μ3-PCF3)2] 8 was obtained. The crystal structures of 3-8 have been determined.
