Abstract: The miscibility of polyisopropenyl methyl ketone, PIPMK, with poly-p-vinylphenol, PVPh, and polyhydroxyether of bisphenol-A, phenoxy, was studied. PIPMK is miscible with PVPh as shown by the transparency and the single-Tg nature of the blends. FTIR and solid state 13C NMR studies showed the existence of hydrogen bonding interaction between PIPMK and PVPh. PIPMK is immiscible with phenoxy. The miscibility behavior of PIPMK is compared with those of polyvinyl methyl ketone and polymethyl methacrylate and discussed in terms of the strength of intermolecular interaction and the accessibility of interacting functional group.
