ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.elecom.2004.07.013 | Abstract: | A simple, novel electrochemical method was developed and used to immobilize the ruthenium(II)bipyridyl complex ([Ru(bpy) 3] 2+) with "glassy carbon oxidea" covered (GCO) glassy carbon (GC) electrode surface without using any additional host matrices. The GCO/[Ru(bpy) 3] 2+ electrode was kept in water for several days and its electrochemical activity re-measured. It was found that the adsorbed [Ru(bpy) 3] 2+ complex layer was very stable and repeated scans gave identical redox waves with E 0′ of 980 mV. The stability of the GCO/Ru(bpy) 3] 2+ electrode was checked over several days, obtaining reproducible results. The characterization (electrochemical, spectroscopic and microscopic) of the GCO/[Ru(bpy) 3] 2+ film was carried out and presented. © 2004 Elsevier B.V.
