Abstract: The adsorption and photochemistry of CO2 on ordered/disordered Cu surfaces were investigated using X-ray photoelectron and high resolution electron loss technique. Physisorbed CO2 and chemisorbed CO2 δ- species were isolated on different faces. Studies on the photochemical behavior of physisorbed and chemisorbed species were conducted with 193 nm laser irradiation. No photoinduced reaction occurred with the physisorbed species. Photoinduced dissociation was seen with chemisorbed species. © 2013, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
