Abstract: Three succinate-metal coordination polymers have been synthesized and characterized. The structure of Co(dmbpy)(H2O)2(C 4H4O4) (dmbpy = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′- bipyridine, C4H4O4 = succinate; 1) contains zipperlike chains, which are constructed of Co(II), dmbpy, H2O, and bridging succinates. The structure of two isomorphous 2-D compounds, M(dpdo)(H2O)2(C4H4O4) (M = Zn (2) or Mn (3), dpdo = 4,4′-dipyridyl N′,N′-dioxide), consists of grid networks of succinate-metal chains linked by dpdo.
