Title: | Binary copolymerizations of furfuryl methacrylate with styrene, p-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile | Authors: | Goh, S.H. Lee, S.Y. Tan, C.T.Y. |
Issue Date: | 1994 | Citation: | Goh, S.H.,Lee, S.Y.,Tan, C.T.Y. (1994). Binary copolymerizations of furfuryl methacrylate with styrene, p-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile. European Polymer Journal 30 (4) : 489-494. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Furfuryl methacrylate (FMA) was copolymerized with styrene (S), p-methylstyrene (MS) and acrylonitrile (AN). Using the Kelen-Tüdös method, the monomer reactivity ratios were found to be rs = 0.34 and rFMA = 0.42 for S/FMA system, rMS = 0.27 and rFMA = 0.30 for MS/FMA system, and rAN = 0.16 and rFMA = 1.60 for AN/FMA system. The copolymerization behaviour of FMA is similar to that of tetrahydrofurfuryl methacrylate. The thermal stabilities of various copolymers were evaluated by thermogravimetry. Incorporation of S, MS or AN improves the thermal stability. © 1994. | Source Title: | European Polymer Journal | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/93172 | ISSN: | 00143057 |
