Abstract: The hydrothermal synthesis of nanostructured and nanorod Zn-Al complex oxides as novel nanocatalysts is discussed. The nano-oxide material synthesized using this method is shown to have extremely high catalytic activity, selectivity and stability for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO x in the presence of excess oxygen. The temperature and pH values for the hydrothermal synthesis are essential to affect the characteristics of the resultant nanomaterials in terms of their morphology and catalytic property. The synthesis approach can be adopted and modified for the preparation of other nanostructured complex oxides possessing superior properties.
