Abstract: Continuing a recent line of investigation, the relationship between electricity use and economic growth and the changes in the sectoral composition of electricity consumption are examined for eight developing countries in East and Southeast Asia. It is found that the relative rate of growth of electricity consumption to GDP declined over time and there were no systematic variations in the sectoral composition of electricity use both over time and across countries. © 1988.
